ALETA Training Supervisors

Mr. Charles Ellis Email

Charles Ellis is a Training Supervisor at the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy and has been employed at ALETA since 2001. He is responsible for the oversight of the Basic Police Training Course and the Arkansas Community Correction Parole and Probation Basic Training Course.
Mr. Ellis holds a degree in Law Enforcement Technology and is a graduate of the 187th Session of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy at Quantico, VA. He served in the Arkansas Army National Guard and the Army Reserve Infantry, NBC units and as a NCO Academy Instructor. Mr. Ellis achieved the rank of Assistant Chief of Police with the El Dorado Police Department, where he was employed for 23 years.

Mr. Clint Scrivner (NW ALETA) Email

Clint Scrivner is the Training Supervisor at the Northwest Campus of the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy. He is responsible for the oversight of planning, organization, execution and direction of the Basic Police Training Course and Advanced Courses offered at our Northwest ALETA Campus.  Mr. Scrivner holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Mississippi State University and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Delta State University.

 

Mr. Juan Reyes Email

Juan Reyes is a Training Supervisor at the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy and has been employed at ALETA since 2009. His areas of expertise are in Criminal Investigations, Arkansas Statutes and Criminal Procedures. He is responsible for Advanced Course Scheduling, AV Equipment, Internal Investigations, Telecommunications Program, ACADIS Program, Marijuana Field Tech Program, Coroner Training Program, Course Review, Class Photos, Evaluations, Public Information along with other duties.
Mr. Reyes holds a Bachelor Degree in Political Science/History from Southern Arkansas University and also attended one year of Law School at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He has extensive training in Criminal Investigations along with other Law Enforcement Advanced Training.

Mr. Bernie Mosley Email

Bernie J. Mosley is a Training Supervisor at the Central Campus of the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy and has been employed with ALETA since 2011. He is responsible for the oversight of planning, organization, execution and direction of the Basic Police Training Course and Advanced Courses offered at the Central ALETA Campus. Instructor Mosley began his career at the Malvern Police Department which allowed him to gain experience in many fields in Law Enforcement, as well as the opportunity to command the Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division and the Special Response Team. Instructor Mosley holds an Associate in Applied Science in Criminal Justice from National Park Community College. He is a graduate of the 45th Management College at the Institute for Law Enforcement Administration in Plano, Texas. He graduated the School of Law Enforcement Supervision at the U of A Criminal Justice Institute, holds a Force Science Certification and is a graduate of ALETA Class 97-D.


ALETA Training Instructors

 

Ms. Liz Jones Email

Elizabeth Jones is a Training Instructor and the Telecommunication Officer Coordinator at the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy. She has been employed at ALETA since 1990. Her teaching responsibilities include First Aid, Juvenile Law, Telecommunications, coordinating and developing curriculum for the states telecommunicators.  Ms. Jones attended East Arkansas Community College and Southern Arkansas University Tech.

Mr. Dan Keithley Email

Daniel Keithley is a Training Instructor at the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy. He has been employed at ALETA since 1992. His teaching responsibilities include First Aid, Below 100, Crisis Intervention, Defensive Tactics, Racial Profiling, Sexual Assault, SFST, MILO/VIRTRA, Post Shooting Trauma, Hazardous Materials, Instructor Development, Tactical EVOC, and Sheriff’s Executive Course.
Mr. Keithley holds an Associate Degree in Emergency Medical Services from UAMS/CHRP and a Senior Certificate from the Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training.

 

Mr. Rodney Franklin Email

Rodney Franklin is a Training Instructor and the Range Master at the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy. He has been employed by ALETA since 2013. His responsibilities include teaching the FTO Program, Firearms Instructor Course, Patrol Rifle, Gangs and Extremist Groups, Patrol Drug Intervention, Crime Prevention, Patrol Procedures and Basic Tactical Firearms.  In 1992, Mr. Franklin was a Sergeant in the field of Combat Engineering with the United States Marine Corps. In 1998 Mr. Franklin was employed by the Camden Police Department where he obtained the rank of Sergeant, and was a graduate of ALETA Class 98-B. He holds an Associates of Applied Science Degree with an emphasis in Law Enforcement.

 

Mr. Ronnie Poole Email

Ronnie Poole is a Training Instructor at the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy. He has been employed at ALETA since 1994. His teaching responsibilities include Traffic Accident Investigation, Basic Firearms, P.P.O. Basic Firearms, Firearms Instructor, Use of Force, EVOC, Field Training Officer, Tactical Shooting, Drug Enforcement, O.C/Pepper Spray and MILO Force Science.  Mr. Poole attended Southern Arkansas University Tech.

Mr. Craig Lawson Email

Craig Lawson is a Training Instructor at the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy. He has been employed at ALETA since 2013. His teaching responsibilities include Ethics, Concepts of Physical Fitness, Domestic Practical, Principles of Accident Investigation and Traffic Control, Accident Investigation, Arson Investigation, Firearms, Defensive Tactics, Interpersonal Violence, Drug Enforcement, Response to Active Shooter, Emergency Vehicle Operation, Physical Training Coordinator and Basic Class Coordinator. He is also the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) for ALETA.
Mr. Lawson spent four years in the Army National Guard prior to his employment at the El Dorado Police Department. He worked for the Drug Task Force and was then employed by the Union County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy.

Mr. Robert Reeder Email

Robert Reeder is a Training Instructor at the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy and has been employed at ALETA since 2006. He is responsible for teaching Introduction to NIMS 700 and ICS 100, Introduction to Basic Police Training, Jailer Training, Firearms Remediation, Interviewing Victims & Witnesses / Domestic Assault, 911 Calls Involving Children (Practical), Range-Firearms Training, Death Investigating / Notification, Police & People with Disabilities, Principles of the Investigative Process, SFST-Vehicle in Motion, SFST-Processing Suspects, SFST training, Emergency Vehicle Operation.  Mr. Reeder retired from the U.S. Army in 2012 as an SFC.  He served 3 tours in Iraq, 2 tours in Egypt and 2 tours in Kuwait. In 1995 he enlisted in the Army Reserves where he was trained as a Quartermaster and Ammunition Specialist. He holds a degree in Electronics from AA Chabot College.

 

Mr. Trae Adkins Email

Trae Adkins is a Training Instructor at the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy. He has been employed at ALETA since 2006. His teaching responsibilities include Off Duty Encounters, Cultural Diversity, Court Security Officer Training, Instructor Development, Survival Handgun I, Survival Handgun II, Patrol/Tactical Practical Training, Finger Printing, Racial Profiling, Sexual Harassment, Moot Court Practical and Marijuana Field Test Certification. He coordinates on DWI Detection/SFST with the Criminal Justice Institute and AR Boating Accident Reporting with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.  Mr. Adkins holds a Bachelor Degree from Louisiana State University in Social Sciences and a Senior Certificate issued through the Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training.

Mr. Tony Madlock Email

Tony Madlock is a Training Instructor at the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy. He has been employed at ALETA since 2011. His teaching responsibilities include Radar/Lidar, Traffic Law, Testifying in Court, Active Shooter & Building Searches, Traffic Stop Practical, MILO, Range Practical, Interviewing, Consular Notification and Defensive Tactics Coordinator.  Mr. Madlock graduated from ALETA Class 2004C and was previously employed by the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office where he obtained the rank of Patrol Sergeant.

Ms. Erin Smelser Email

Erin Smelser is a Training Instructor at the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy. She has been employed at ALETA since 2013. Her teaching responsibilities include Physical Training, Interviewing Victims of Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Children, Juvenile Law, Investigation and Case Preparation of Domestic Violence Cases, Domestic Situations Practical, Firearms Qualification, Ground Fighting, Missing and Exploited Children, 911 Calls Involving Children Practical, Principles of Investigating Process, SFST, Human Trafficking, ALERRT, Misdemeanor and Felony Traffic Stops.  Ms. Smelser is the coordinator for the Law Enforcement Refresher Course, Women Behind the Badge, Criminal Investigation, Basic Class along with Physical Training Instructor.

Mr. John Ferguson Email

John Ferguson is a Training Instructor at the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy. He is responsible for teaching Civil, Criminal and Constitution Law along with Patrol courses. He is the Coordinator for our Basic Police Training Course and for Probation and Parole Basic Academy.  From 1982-1988 Mr. Ferguson was a member of the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division 2/321 FA and the 153rd Infantry Regiment USARNG. He holds an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Texarkana College and a Bachelor degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Juvenile Justice from Southern Arkansas University. 


Mr Gregory Harrison Email

Gregory Harrison is a Training Instructor at the Northwest Campus of the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy. He has been employed at ALETA since 2016. His teaching responsibilities include Juvenile Law, Off Duty Encounters, Racial Profiling, Domestic Practical, Accident Investigation, Firearms Instruction, and MILO. Mr. Harrison is responsible for managing the day to day activities of the basic cadet classes, and assisting in the coordination and instruction of advanced courses offered at our Northwest ALETA Campus. Mr. Harrison graduated from ALETA Class 1987C and was previously employed by the Springdale Police Department for 28 years, where he completed his service cycle in 2015.
