This requirement supplements Section 1002 (3) (a) and (b) of the Regulations. Verification of U.S. citizenship and age of an applicant is required.

Requirement

Every officer employed by a law enforcement unit shall be a citizen of the United States of America and shall be at least 21 years of age.

Procedures

1. Verification of place and date of birth may be established by any of the following means:
   1. Birth Certificate

   2. Family Bible Records

   3. Religious Documents (Certificate of baptism, birth, etc.)

   4. Copy of Department of Defense Notice of Separation (DD-214)

   5. Local voter registration records

   6. Naturalization or other citizenship records

   7. Any other official documents approved by the Commission

2. Copies of the documents used for verification will be retained by the employing agency and must be available for examination at any reasonable time by representatives of the Commission.
