This requirement supplements Section 1002 (3)
(a) and (b) of the Regulations. Verification of U.S. citizenship
and age of an applicant is required.
Requirement
Every officer employed by a law
enforcement unit shall be a citizen of the United States of
America and shall be at least 21 years of age.
Procedures
- Verification of place and
date of birth may be established by any of the following
means:
- Birth Certificate
- Family Bible Records
- Religious Documents (Certificate
of baptism, birth, etc.)
- Copy of Department of
Defense Notice of Separation (DD-214)
- Local voter registration
records
- Naturalization or other
citizenship records
- Any other official documents
approved by the Commission
- Copies of the documents used
for verification will be retained by the employing agency
and must be available for examination at any reasonable
time by representatives of the Commission.
