Every
officer employed or appointed below the level of department
head shall satisfactorily complete a probationary period
of not less than twelve (12) months with the employing department.
A
department head is not required to serve a probationary
period.
Every
officer who is promoted or appointed as an assistant department
head, middle management or supervisory position shall satisfactorily
complete a probationary period of not less than six (6)
months.
No
certification, with the exception of radar operator, shall
be issued to any law enforcement officer until such time
as the appropriate probationary period, if any, has been
completed.
