Training Programs

For
the purpose of this subchapter, the Arkansas Commission
on Law Enforcement Standards and Training may cooperate
with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies
in establishing and conducting instruction and training
programs for law enforcement officers of this state,
its counties, and municipalities.

The
Commission shall establish and maintain police training
programs through such agencies and institutions as
the Commission may deem appropriate to carry out the
intent of this subchapter.

The
Commission shall work with each state agency and political
subdivision that adheres to the selection and training
standards established by the Commission to provide
allowable tuition, living, and training expenses incurred
by the officers in attendance at approved training
programs.

It is
the intent of this subchapter that the expenses of
attending the approved training programs established
pursuant to subsection (c) of this section shall be
furnished by the state through the Law Enforcement
Training Academy or any other manner that may be prescribed
by the Commission and no cost or charge shall be made
to any local political subdivision for the actual
cost of the training. However, the state shall not
be liable for the travel cost or any salary in connection
with attending any training program.
